Strategic Planning Services (SPS) is honored to have assisted the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in its Airport Management Training Program for Airport Leaders in Vietnam. The USTDA organized a training program for airport managers and aviation officials from Vietnam, including delegates from the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), Van Don International Airport, and the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) in November 2021. The training program focused on airport design and certification; airport construction and wildlife; unmanned aircraft systems (UAS); slot management; and airport collaborative decision making.

 

Doug Goldberg from SPS discussed best practices and lessons learned from the modernization of the runway system and terminal area at Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD). SPS shared key considerations in the evolution of O’Hare, and how innovative technologies and improved operational concepts were used to improve aircraft maneuvering, airport and air traffic operations, and ramp management to increase safety and efficiency.

 

The session was well received by attendees from Vietnam. The discussion focused on how lessons learned from decades of changing technology, fleet mix and demand profiles can be applied in the planning and development of modern airports throughout Vietnam that will stand the test of time.  SPS looks forward to further assisting our friends in ACV and CAAV in the future!
